CALTCM Infection Preventionist Orientation Program

The CALTCM Infection Preventionist Orientation Program provides all the foundational information an Infection Preventionist (IP) needs to get started in their role through four (4) training modules. All who have a leadership role in infection prevention in a long term care setting will benefit from this training, such as Directors of Nursing, Assistant Directors of Nursing, Directors of Staff Development. The self-paced online modules can be completed independently by the IP or viewed in conjunction with a supervisor to supplement other orientation activities.

If completing all modules at one time, allow for 3-4 hours to: (1) print the presentations and resources, (2) complete all the modules in full, (3) complete all module assessments, and (4) complete final program evaluation. Nursing home leaders (DON, Nurse Consultant or IP Consultants) can utilize the Infection Preventionist Orientation Checklist and all supplemental training materials in new employee onboarding activities.

The full program must be completed within 30 days from start of program. This program is accredited for 3.0 CEU hours. A Certificate of Completion will be emailed to each participant following completion of all modules, assessments and final program evaluation.
